Elementary
K-5
Kindergarten-5th grade, students have a natural zeal for learning. Their skills are growing rapidly, and our job at CPCS is to equip them with the tools they need to grow academically and spiritually. Our focus is on high academic growth, as well as building strong faith in God within each student.
Our Heart & Approach
Our Kindergarten-5th grade program, based on
the Indiana Academic Standards, includes:
Math
Students become efficient problem-solvers by learning through a mix of whole group instruction, centers, and partner activities. By gaining a strong foundation in number sense and computation, students are able to build on these skills to work on more complex problems as their school years progress.
English/Language Arts & Spanish/Language Arts
Students in our English and Dual Language programs receive daily instruction in Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Spelling. By using evidence-based curricular resources with a strong foundation in phonics, students foster a love for reading and writing.
Faith Formation
As CPCS students progress from Kindergarten to 5th grade, their faith deepens through memorization of scripture, studying the Bible, and navigating how to apply their Biblical knowledge. Devotions, prayer, and worship are an important part of each day.
Through hands-on experiments, students gain knowledge and understanding into complex scientific inquiries. Students learn about communities, Indiana state history, government, pioneers, and more through our Social Studies curriculum. Our ELA curriculum also leans into scientific and historical understanding, enabling a greater depth of understanding
Science & Social Studies

In PE, students enjoy learning various sports and participating in a variety of activities.

Music classes involve learning about beat, rhythm and melody; younger class incorporates unpitched percussion and Orff instruments; upper elementary builds on these skills and prepares students for participation in choir, band and orchestra.

Each week, students work on problem-solving skills and inquiry in STEAM. They also have the opportunity to check out books from the school library.
-
Students create beautiful projects in Art class and have opportunities to put their work on display.
-
Our 5th grade students participate in Band, Choir, or Orchestra and begin to develop greater depth in their respective giftings.
